In mid-July, I had the privilege of visiting with Lawrie and Melissa Theurer, co-owners of Applegate Door Company, Philomath, Oregon. When I walked into their place of business, a facility that felt more like a home than an offi ce, I was greeted by Melissa, Lawrie, and their dog, Baxter. I would soon learn that Baxter was an important member of the Applegate Door team, and was basically a permanent fi xture in the offi ce and on Lawrie's service truck. I would also learn that these two individuals epitomize the meaning of being a door dealer. What a delightful couple they are!
Lawrie is a man I could sit and listen to for hours on end. He just has a way with words; explaining things in a manner anyone can understand. If he ever gives up his day job, he could do very well as a story teller. Melissa complements her husband, offering a contagious, friendly smile along with the wisdom of an experienced 'doorman' (woman). Together, they have devoted 28 years building a successful door business, serving their community, and raising three sons. Lawrie was born in Philomath and has been a resident of the city his entire life.
