IDA is pleased to announce it recently chose Kellen, a leading global association management and communications company, as its new management firm. These staffing and personnel changes are intended to help position the organization to effectively meet its mission of providing programs and services to door and access systems dealers for the express purpose of enhancing their value and professionalism. "We are very excited for this next chapter in our organization's history," President of IDA and President of Merchantville Overhead Door Company, Edward J. Hermanns said. "Kellen has a true understanding of our industry, businesses and members and will work alongside us to provide the most valuable programs and innovative services." Mike Fischer will serve as the interim managing director of IDA, leading a team of staff. Fischer has been in the building products industry for 35 years, holding management positions in regulatory affairs, manufacturing and marketing. His involvement in building and energy codes, environment and sustainability issues, product standards, regulatory affairs, and product safety issues within the industry provides a comprehensive background to deliver responsible advocacy for IDA. The staff team will manage the day-to-day operations of IDA, support the board and committee by facilitating communications, represent the organization at industry events, develop and execute education and marketing programs and lead membership development. The new team members include: General Manager Lori Barker Cummings In her position with IDA, Barker Cummings specializes in operations, leadership development and program management, board governance and strategy. Prior to joining IDA, Barker Cummings served as Exam Manager at the Council of Interior Design Qualification (CIDQ) and was responsible for the development, administration and advancement of the NCIDQ Exams. Throughout her career, she has had a passion for helping organizations achieve their missions and demonstrate their value to their membership and to the wider community. She also recognizes that organizational goals cannot be accomplished without the dedication of committed volunteers. Director of Communications Chris Barry As director of communications and editor of the International Door & Operator Industry magazine, Barry is responsible for overseeing the content and quality of magazine publications and for ensuring that features are topical, interesting and informative. Prior to joining IDA, Barry was editor for the trade publication Food & Drug Packaging magazine, focusing on writing and editing articles on packaging technologies and processes. After graduating from Aurora University with a B.A. in Writing and Language, he did a stint as features writer for the Press Publications newspaper group in the Chicago suburbs. He has pursued clarity in communications his whole life with strategic thinking at the forefront.
