MEMBERSHIP Plano Overhead Garage Doors Company We decided to make this year's Supertech Day a Supertech WEEK! With the help of our Office Manager, Lisa Light, and the rest of the office staff, we had food catered to our showroom all week long for all our technicians! We had popcorn, nachos, pigs in a blanket, snack food, ribs and chicken wings, then finished the week off with a three course "super- lunch" from a local smokehouse on Supertech Day! All week, the office staff posted Superhero themed trivia questions and quotes to help set the tone for big day ahead. All the new decorations, combined with this year's decor, was quite a sight to see! After lunch on Supertech Day came the annual SuperTech Cornhole Tournament, which leaves no highly competitive tech in the shadows! Last year's champion got a first round bye, but it was Grant who won the 2018 Championship this year, along with a $50 gift card. In previous years, we've had Caricature Artists, 50' Inflatable Gorillas and several other contests and fun activities. This year our CEO raised the bar and rented a full sized dunk tank. He explained to us that it was a little something extra to show our staff that the company cares about us and that they aren't ALWAYS the ones in charge. Seeing the bosses squirm on the plank, nervously awaiting that dreadful moment the ball would make contact with the target, was worth every penny spent on renting the dunk tank! First on the plank was Nick McGregor (CEO), followed by Nathan McGregor (CFO), then Steve Reese (Service Manager), and technician Will Rhodes. Our IDA Technician of the Year (and General Manager) EJ Hildebrand was out of state for family reasons, but everyone knows that he'll be in the mix next year. Before the guys went back to work, we also had a water balloon fight that gave everyone a much needed break from the Texas heat! The take-away from this enjoyable afternoon is that when you show appreciation to hard working, dedicated employees the return is ten-fold. We want every tech in North Texas to consider working at Plano Overhead because they have heard we treat our employees with respect and know how to have fun! Thank you to all our "SuperTechs" who participate in the success of this family-owned business (not to mention our office staff who ensure the day's "ups and downs" run smoothly)! Highlights of Our Members' Festivities... Continued on page 44 V O L U M E 5 1 I S S U E 5 O C T O B E R 2 0 1 8 43
