ASSOCIATIONNEWS New opportunites abound at IDAExpo ® 2019 in Indianapolis is shaping up to be an exciting time, with a lot of new things happening! Four years of work and planning has culminated in IDA's new partner affiliation with the American Fence Association (AFA), combining the IDAExpo with FenceTech and MetalFab under the National Ornamental and Miscellaneous Metals Association (NOMMA). The IDAExpo Committee has put a lot of work into this partnership: numerous joint meetings and conference calls, coupled with our respective trainers planning seminars and educational opportunities. We like to think this event has the power of three industries, all coming together to make your IDAExpo experience even better than in the past. If this is your first time attending IDAExpo, it will be a hard one to top. And for those who have been attending every year, this will be a whole new experience! In addition to the work we've put into the 2019 event, we have also established a relationship with our new management team at Kellen, who is known worldwide in this arena for organizing and executing shows similar to IDAExpo. We're eager to see what our new managing partner has in store for us in Indy. Another exciting addition to the 2019 offerings is our IDAExpo sponsorship programs, which were established to help deepen our relationship with exhibitors. Sponsorship programs provide an opportunity for industry sponsors to enhance their branding and show commitment to the industry through support of the Expo. During the Expo events, you will hear staff and volunteer speakers publicly thanking the sponsors for their "above and beyond" support of the door industry, IDA and the Expo. Sponsorship programs help limit the cost of the programs by underwriting the events - which goes a long way towards defraying the cost of IDAExpo registration for the attendees. This helps put money directly into the pockets of the dealer attendees, whether they purchase door products or services from that particular sponsor or not. IDA is proud of this program and proud to have our partners at Genie jump on board as our first official sponsor. Genie believes in the IDA mission and the value of the IDAExpo - especially the educational programs and networking opportunities. According to Genie President Mike Kridel, "[Genie's involvement] is a tremendous opportunity for us to show our full commitment to IDA's cause, membership and Expo. We couldn't be happier to be involved at the event where IDA and AFA are displayed together for the first time to our valuable dealer bases. I personally can see much synergy happening between both organizations." Genie's involvement supports the Expo and helps IDA manage costs. This year's sponsors will be given the first shot for next year's event, just as we do for booth sales. Although Genie purchased a package already established by IDA's team - run by Michael Greskiewicz, vice president of sales for IDA - we will work with any company to put a package together solely for that exhibitor. By the time we take this magazine issue to press, we have received commitments from Miller Edge and Liftmaster for additional sponsor packages. Exhibitors who have already signed up to be a sponsor with AFA may also be interested in sponsoring packages targeted to IDA's membership base. All sponsorships will help make the IDAExpo a success and help IDA to build a stronger door industry. When you visit the Expo, make sure to thank the IDA sponsors directly! While your time in Indianapolis may be short, the knowledge, networking and friendships made will last a lifetime. As the IDA Board of Directors continue to work on 2019 new and unique offerings, we hope current and future IDA members will make an effort to attend.
