38 International Door & Operator Industry™ This year, we get to experience an entirely new kind of IDAExpo ® because we are co-locating with American Fence Association (AFA)'s Fencetech and National Ornamental and Miscellaneous Metals Association (NOMMA)'s METALfab. This gives those within the door industry an opportunity to spread their horizons and visit multiple expos – all in one spot! One of the most exciting aspects of this co-location is that the IDA Young Professional Network (YPN) has joined forces with the AFA Young Fence Professionals (YFP)! The IDA YPN has been planning its activities for the 2019 IDAExpo since the end of the IDAExpo last year in Las Vegas and will be partnering with the AFA YFN on events and opportunities to network. Some of our planned joint events include join speakers during sessions and a YPN Happy Hour. Be sure to 'like' us on Facebook to keep up-to-date on the schedule of events. Having door and fence industry professionals in the same spot is an exciting opportunity – after all, how nice would it be for dealers to finally meet and know a fence person they can recommend to customers! While YPN's are joining forces for during the event, the IDA YPN is working on its own separate projects as well. The IDA YPN is once again hosting a panel seminar about women in the door industry and plan to have female dealers and manufacturers represented. Our panelists will share stories of what it is like to be a woman in what is typically considered a male-dominated industry, and provide tips on how they have overcome obstacles in our roller-coaster economy. More and more women are moving into positions where they can and do make a difference within the industry as a whole. The YPN also plans to have a fundraiser on the exhibit floor during IDAExpo. Any money raised will be put towards future YPN events and other opportunities for our members. But we can't do it without help! If you are planning on attending IDAExpo in Indianapolis and would be interested in donating some of your time to YPN activities, specifically if you are interested in participating on our panel, contact me at MLW We are still working diligently on our plans for IDAExpo 2019, so let us know: what do you want to see?
