INDUSTRYNEWS WWII Museum with Huge Schweiss Door Ron Fagan, a Granite Falls, Minnesota entrepreneur became an industrial legend during the construction boom days of the United States ethanol industry. His firm built about 80% of all the new ethanol plants being constructed in the U.S. (more than 100 plants). However, the real showpiece of Ron Fagan is now an incredible new World War II Fighter Plane Museum which officially opened last fall. This amazing structure has already captured the fancy of aviation enthusiasts across America. The museum was built as a tribute to his late father Raymond, who was part of the D-day Utah Beach invasion. The structure is 90' wide, 200' long, and 28' tall, and features five Schweiss bifold doors on the hangars. Of special interest, the planes entered the museum using an 18' x 70' Schweiss bifold door which is actually the centerpiece. The door weighs 22,000 lbs. with special steel sheeting and inside insulation. This workhorse hangar door is powered by three, 5-hp electric motors. A total of 20 Schweiss patented Lift Straps do the heavy lifting of this monster door which was designed to withstand 190 mph winds. The museum is located at the Lenzen-Roe-Memorial Airport, Granite Falls, Minnesota.
