NeW memBerSHIP CATeGOrIeS APPrOVeD BY memBerS It's offcial! There is now a category of membership for Branch offces of Installing/Serving Dealer members. Approved by the membership in August, the bylaws amendment allows for Branch members, as long as they are 100 percent owned by an Installing/Servicing Dealer member Here's the rest of the defnition: "A Branch must have a physical offce in the locality of the Installing/Servicing Dealer member, and must be staffed by at least one fulltime manager. The 62 Branch must be open for business not less than 35 hours spread over not less than four days each week. The Branch must have a telephone number unique to the physical offce in the locality. The physical offce must have on-site capability of providing sales, and must have either on-site, or through the Installing/Servicing Dealer Member, the ability to sell, install and/or service door and access systems products. " Branch offces may use the IDA logo in advertising and marketing, they hold full voting rights of membership, and they may hold Board and/or offcer positions on the Board. A Branch Member is IDA Code of Business Conduct compliant via the Installing/ Servicing Dealer member. The new Branch membership cost is $200 annually, plus a frst year fee of $50. The Branch Member joins the SubscribingProfessionalasthetwo newest membership categories approved by the membership in 2013.ASubscribingProfessionalis a company, whose primary business is not selling, installing and servicing residential and/or commercial door and access systems, but has three years experience in another core business and has added the sale, installation and service of door and access systems to its business. For the frst two year, the company is a Subscribing Professionalandmaynotuse the IDA logo in advertising or marketing. After two years asaSubscribingProfessional, however, the company maybecomeaProfessional International Door & Operator Industry™ Member and may use the IDA logo in marketing and advertising. The IDA Membership and Affliate Relations Committee acted upon both these membership categories this year in response to direct requests from professionals in the industry. Committee chairman Dan Nixa said, "The committee carefully deliberated both requests, including forming subcommittees to study the new categories and report back to the committee." Ultimately the committee approved both categories and presented their recommendation to the Board of Directors for fnal approval. Upon Board of Director approval, the categories were presented to the membership in the form of Bylaws Amendments. Both requests passed the membership in 2013.
