INDUSTRYNEWS Industry Leader Passes Industry leader and friend, Cecil Williams passed away on October 17, 2013, as a result of complications following a brief bout with pneumonia. He would have been 74 on October 28. Mr. Williams was not only a quality and successful businessman, but more importantly he shared his knowledge, expertise and creativity with his industry peers. He was elected to the Board of Directors, Door & Operator Dealers Association in 1987, serving as the association's president from 1992 to 1993, and as past president from 1993-1995. He was instrumental in the ultimate formation of the International Door Association (IDA). Following his retirement from the Board of Directors, and from his business in Florida, Mr. Williams continued his support of the garage door industry. He contributed greatly as a director of the Institute of Door Dealer Education & Accreditation; the educational arm of the industry. He supported the IDA Scholarship Foundation not only fnancially, but through his personal involvement with various fundraising events. Upon learning of Mr. Williams passing, a fellow doorman and IDA past president commented, "Cecil was a man of not only vision, but he had the ability to deliver it as well. The door dealer industry has lost a great contributor without whom it would have remained fractured and weak. Cecil uniquely had the ability to bring people appearing to have conficting interests to accept the common purpose of all. In that spirit, Cecil will remain with us for generations of door dealers to come." A memorial fund has been established as part of the IDA Scholarship Foundation. Those wishing to make a donation to the fund should send to: IDA Scholarship Foundation, Cecil Williams Memorial Fund, P. O. Box 246, West Milton, OH 45383. Checks should be made payable to IDA Scholarship Foundation. Raymond Houston Neisewander Jr. Passes Raymond H.
