Dealers need to be vigilant in reviewing their security protocols for preserving e-mails, websites, payment information, and the like. Keeping software up to date, and installing firewalls is the minimum. Far more importantly, employers need to train their employees how to spot and avoid phishing and other types of human-error hacking risks. Even small businesses can suffer catastrophic losses as a result of such cyber-attacks. Conclusion Reviewing paperwork and policies doesn't have to be an every-year thing, but it has to be something that every business does from time to time. The lessons to be learned from other businesses' misfortune are far less expensive than if the bad results hit your company. Take the time, and bear the expense, to call your lawyer, your accountant, your insurance agent, and your security consultant. Those ounces of prevention are worth the cost.
