96 International Door & Operator Industry™ IDAExpo ® is the highlight for just about everyone in the door industry. As an attendee, you get the opportunity to learn from some of the best, both inside and outside of our industry, as well see what improvements and ideas are emerging to better the industry. The IDAExpo also provides an opportunity to network and meet people from all over the world and share thoughts and ideas. The Young Professionals Network (YPN) has been assisting with these components of the event for everyone who decides to make the trek to Vegas. The YPN is currently planning two educational sessions on Thursday with the fantastic speaker, Shaun Hall, http://, and we are very excited about everything being planned for these sessions. The first one is a lecture style featuring Shaun discussing the working styles of Millennials, Baby Boomers and Gen-Xers, and how by utilizing the particular strengths of each generation one can help bring their company into the next generation. The second session is a round table discussion with current leaders in our industry and the sitting YPN council members. This will present a unique opportunity for open discussion and questions posed to others in the industry. We will break up into small groups and have one topic to start, but where the conversation goes from there is up to the participants. This will give everyone the opportunity to share ideas, thoughts, and questions that have been driving them crazy with people who may share the same question or have developed a solution. During the past two IDAExpos, the YPN has conducted a walking tour around different locations in the host cities. However, this year we will do something a little different. We are currently planning a VR (virtual reality) game for anyone who wants to play while we are at IDAExpo. This is something we plan to start on day one with the YPN, and finish on Sunday with the ability to involve the IDA and its members. We haven't worked out all the bugs yet, but trust me when I say it will be fun for all. Details will be posted in the next issue of International Door & Operator Industry, our YPN monthly e-mail, and on our Facebook page; keep an eye out as we finish it up. The YPN has other enjoyable and educational plans in the works for our stay in Las Vegas. We are planning a cocktail hour one evening so we can spend time together and enjoy the opportunity to network in a low pressure environment, as well as a possible breakfast meeting. We are also hoping for some unsponsored activities that we'll plan on the run so we can just have fun and enjoy each other's company. The YPN strives to help the younger professionals get involved in the industry and bring our industry into the future. It started with our Facebook Page, where we ask you to submit your thoughts, opinions and questions. This helps the Council members create opportunities and programs that are designed for all of us young professionals. For the older generations, please join us as we seek your input as well. Besides, it may just help you better understand what is going on in our heads, as well as give us the opportunity to figure out what's going on in yours. The IDAExpo is helping us better ourselves and our industry, and we plan on doing just that. Don't miss out, attend the 2018 IDAExpo in colorful and exciting Las Vegas!
