INDUSTRYNEWS A JOYFUL REMEMBRANCE OF PHILIP "PHIL" GOFF A man who seemingly, effortlessly brought a smile to everyone's face who came into contact with him. "Just so you know," this is not a sad story. This is a remembrance of a man who enjoyed life. Enjoyed live music, especially classic rock. A man who enjoyed a margarita while playing pool, getting up early with a cup of coffee, was a huge Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan and loved being terrible at golf. A man who enjoyed various outdoor activities, especially spoonbill fishing. But overall, this man's main source of joy was spending time with his family (especially his grandson), friends, and dog Bella. This is about a man who is remembered by his family as a kind, humble, funny, hardworking, loving, and supportive father who was always there for his family and friends. Everyone was always welcome in Phil's garage. This is a remembrance of a man who dedicated himself to one company for 41 years of his life, while developing a lifetime of friendships. Philip Goff was only 23 years old when Delden founder, Gene Renner hired him personally. Phil previously worked for La Crosse Lumber Co. based out of Mexico, MO. Prior to his working experience, Phil earned a degree in Building Materials Merchandising from State Fair Community College. Phil Goff's 41-year career at Delden began as a garage door salesperson for the St. Louis, MO location. Phil remained there from 1976-1983. In 1984 he was offered a chance to move back home to Kansas City and he jumped on the opportunity. On November 30th, 1985, Phil was married to Rebecca, his best friend. Phil and Becky actually met at Delden Manufacturing Company. The two would go on to do a magnificent job as parents, raising three children. During Phil's time with Delden, he worked in wholesale sales, marketing and eventually promoted to sales manager. Phil is remembered at Delden for his joyful disposition, big smile, dedicated service and humorous attitude. Everyone got a kick out of when Phil described a customer or employee's particular "modus operandi!"When described by Phil's customers, words like heart, kindness, love, respect, fun and references to his big smile were used. Many of his customers considered him a personal friend. Phil is forever a part of the Delden family fabric. Goff officially retired October 31, 2017. Upon retirement, Phil stated, "I would like to express my appreciation for the time I worked with all my customers throughout the Midwest. Of all the door guys, lumber dealers and my teammates at Delden, you guys/gals are the best. It has been my pleasure to work with all of you these years. I thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers, and I wish you continued success and good health."
