Scholarship Recipients Emily Asp Region 3 Sponsor: Doors of Pontiac, Waterford, MI School: Westfi eld State University, Westfi eld, MA Emily is a junior and is a biology major working towards a degree in Marine Biology. This fi eld encompasses her interest in science and marine organisms. Her goal is to learn the behavior of various organisms and how they react with one another in the ecosystem. Emily aspires to sustain preservation of our oceans so these majestic species are protected, can thrive, and exist for future generations to appreciate. I want to thank the IDA Scholarship Foundation so very much for this scholarship! It means so much to me and it will be put to good use. It is much appreciated and will be a great help towards my college education. Jamin is working on a degree in Business Administration and plans to eventually manage Barton Overhead Door and keep the business in the family. He has spent much of his time working on the family ranch, helping to farm almonds, walnuts, and cherries since he was six. Besides participating in volunteer projects in his community and church , working on a squab farm raising squabs (pigeons), he has also worked as a warehouse assistant at Barton Overhead Door. Caden Bonar Industry Sponsor: Arrow Tru-Line, Archbold, OH School: John Carroll University, University Heights, OH Majoring in chemistry and biology, Caden has striven for academic excellence by maintaining a 4.0 GPA during high school and being valedictorian of the 2012 Strasburg-Franklin High graduating class. Although education plays a signifi cant role in his life, he is involved with many other activities. During high school, he was a four-year letterman and Captain of the golf and basketball teams. Caden plans on playing golf at the collegiate level. He enjoys volunteering his time coaching several youth basketball teams, helping at the homeless shelter and tutoring inner city students. His long term goal is to become a doctor and make a difference in the life of a child.
