ASSOCIATIONNEWS By Andrew Stergiou Another Successful Renewal with Liberty Mutual On September 30th, 2012, the IDAssurance Program had another successful renewal with 93% of the members who qualifi ed for the program renewing for the 2012-13 policy year. The IDAssurance Program provides IDA Members, who have superior loss experience, the potential to lower their up front insurance premiums and receive the best possible insurance coverage that is available in the marketplace with an admitted and licensed insurance carrier (Liberty Mutual Insurance Company) Rated A XV by AM Best. During the course of the renewal process, Liberty Mutual, the new insurance company partner of the IDAssurance Program, and Alliant provided timely renewal quotes to all clients. The IDAssurance members were extremely happy with the ability to receive the insurance renewal quote in a timely manner in order to ask important questions regarding coverage, ratings, and premiums. In contrast, most other brokers and agents send the renewal quotes only a couple days before the expiration. Before the IDAssurance Program, members were complaining of the poor service and increasing premiums, and many insurance carriers were limiting the insurance policies to cover less. The IDAssurance Program covers general liability, workers compensation, and automobile coverage and has preferred rates for umbrella and property coverages. Many of the IDAssurance members renewed IDA program simply because of the broad coverages and service of Alliant Insurance Services, Inc. In some instances, the IDAssurance Program did not offer the cheapest premium, but members renewed in order to receive broader coverages including residential construction coverage that was only available to those members in the IDAssurance Program. Along with premiums, ADEQUATE AND COMPLETE coverage are the most important elements of any successful insurance program. The increase in coverage with Liberty Mutual includes no residential exclusion. Many of the IDA members in California and in the western part of the U.S. are unable to provide the necessary forms to provide most general contractors to perform the job. The IDAssurance Dealer Program with Liberty Mutual has no residential exclusion on the policy, which allows work to be performed in townhouses, tract housing, condominiums, and building associations. Before the IDAssurance came along, many IDA members practiced their craft with a residential exclusion in their policies, which rendered their coverage essentially meaningless. Since the beginning of the IDAssurance Program in 2006, there has been NO residential exclusion for those in the IDA-endorsed Program. However, there are still IDA members who maintain their insurance with other insurance carriers which do not provide this coverage. Those IDA Cont. on page 74 Switching to Alliant Insur- ance Services has been the best decision I have made regarding our General Liability Insurance Coverage. Everyone at Alli- ant has been very helpful and understanding of our insurance needs. Toni Contreras – Overhead Door Systems (Corona, CA) VOLUME 45 ISS UE 6 2012 73 2012-068 R10712
