INDUSTRYNEWS Homebuyer Finds Overhead Door® Garage Door Opener Still Working After 60 Years The employees who work at Overhead Door Corp., a leading manufacturer of overhead doors and openers for residential, commercial and industrial construction applications, have always taken pride in working for a company whose name is synonymous with quality, which is why a recent discovery by a Connecticut homeowner has gained the attention of senior management. "I came into the offi ce to fi nd a voicemail from a customer who still had a working Overhead Door® garage door opener from 1955," said Preston Bowen, Overhead Door's Senior Vice President of Sales. "I was amazed." After purchasing a lakeside home built in 1955 in Columbia, Conn., homeowner Michael Matthews promptly began the renovation work that comes with buying and restoring an old home. That's when he found a still working, 1955-era Overhead Door® in his garage. Model E Ultronic Door Opener Made of steel and weighing close to 50 pounds, the Model E Ultronic was an AC, chain-drive opener that, at the time, was state-of-the-art for its operational capabilities. It featured both a chain drive and a belt drive to ensure long-term durability. Wayne-Dalton Announces Fire Door Certifi cation Course for Dealers Raising the bar for excellence in fi re door training and installation practices, Wayne-Dalton is offering the industry's fi rst (customized to manufacturer) fi re door technician training program sanctioned by the Institute of Door Dealer Education and Accreditation (IDEA).
