DOORDEALERDIALOG (continued from page 19) continue to meet our customer's needs. We embrace this challenge and thank you for the opportunity to serve you, our customers, both old and new." I found it interesting that the business actually includes a statement of gratitude to its customers within its Mission Statement. As the years pass by in our industry, we're seeing more and more 2nd and 3rd generations become active owners and managers within door businesses. Samantha Mastantuono, Joe Lorello, and Anthony Lorello (granddaughter and grandsons of Tony Lorello), are third generation family members. Samantha will graduate in 2013 with a Business Management Degree from Kent State, and Joe is pursuing his Masters Degree in Business. "We want a solid succession set in place when we retire," stated Dino. "Our successors need to be able to make educated business decisions, not off the cuff, gut feeling ones," he added. When I inquired about the importance IDA plays in the success of their business, the fi rst words coming from Dino's mouth was the IDAExpo. Front row: Michelle Mastantuono, Marie Juchnowski, Patty Klepac, Michelle Piecuch, Jean Skonier, Samantha Mastantuono, Diane Jelinek, Dino Mastantuono Back row: Jonathon Seeker, Rick Wehe, Kim Mezera, Stephanie Scheider, Jennifer Molley, Michelle Weathington He explained that the IDAExpo is very valuable. Are they EPA certifi ed for lead paint removal and repair? We are. The IDAExpo is the best place in our industry to obtain valuable, free advice and information," he shared. Another impressive aspect of Action Door is the fact that they are not only long-term IDA members, the company is IDEA Accredited and many of their door technicians and installers are IDEA Certifi ed in multiple disciplines. Dino and I talked about fi re door installation and the crucial importance of proper installation and testing. "There is a giant liability when installing fi re doors," stated Dino. "If that door doesn't drop when there is a fi re, you had better installed it correctly. After the fi re, lawyers and insurance personnel will be closely assessing the situation. If I take the stand in court, and a lawyer asks me if my installer was certifi ed, and company accredited by the IDEA, you better believe I want to be able say, yes we are," he asserted. 20 International Door & Operator Industry™ The crew at Action Door of Brooklyn Hts.
