Balancing the responsibilities of running a business and managing a regional trade
association would tax most people to their wit's end. Add to that, longstanding support
of community organizations and time for family might seem to get squeezed. But for
the owners of Coast Garage Doors, these activities are all just a part of their family
business.
Jim and Linda Anderson didn't seek to build a large company, but the impact they have
on their industry and community is quite substantial. The couple spends as much time
serving the needs of the schools and volunteer organizations in the coastal resort town
of Seaside, Oregon, as they do on their own business.
And, when they aren't refnishing furniture to raise money for a local school, or taking
on some other project to help their town, they are devoting time to the Northwest
Door and Operator Association, which Jim leads as President and Linda serves as
Executive Secretary.
