In recent years, the programs aimed at training, educating and certifying feld personnel have expanded, as a growing number of technicians have benefted from attending. At the 2014 IDAExpo™ in Las Vegas, technicians can attend school, earn IDEA certifcation, become IDEA Sanctioned Trainers, and attend the special SuperTech presentation to learn "Tricks of the Trade. IDEA is preparing two courses that will be conducted on Tuesday and Wednesday during IDAExpo™ Week. The frst will be a class on Commercial Rolling/Rolling Steel Fire Doors. The second class will cover Residential and Commercial Sectional Doors. The presentations will be made by an all-star faculty, and will prepare attendees for the bundled certifcation exams that will be offered at the conclusion of the classes on Wednesday afternoon. Bundled certifcation provides pricing advantages and consolidated examinations. Residential Installer Certifcation can be bundled with Commercial Sectional Door Systems Technician Certifcation, and Commercial Rolling Door Systems Technician Certifcation can be bundled with Rolling Steel Fire Door Technician Certifcation. Bundled applications are available on the IDEA website at www.dooreducation.com. Applicants receive the full package of study materials for both of the certifcation programs they bundle, but take only one exam that combines questions from both of the certifcation courses. The exams are produced in a manner that allows candidates to earn dual certifcations in one sitting (an applicant can also earn a single certifcation from a bundled exam, should one of the portions be failed). The two-day courses offered at the IDAExpo™ are not hands-on training classes, but are instead intended for technicians who have two or more years experience in the feld. The mini-schools will prepare the attendees for the certifcation examinations which are offered at the conclusion of the second day. Continued on page 96 1/24/14 10:56 AM
